Casement, sliding and curtain walling share the same bar, the same gasket and the same test regime. What changes is the depth of the profile and how much the hardware can move.

70 to 100 mm deep, with polyamide bars from 24 to 55 mm and optional insulating filler in the break cavity. This is the family where Uf drops furthest, because it is the only one with room to do it.

Sliding and lift-and-slide

Wide openings without giving up class 4

Sliding at 100 and 130 mm, lift-and-slide at 160 mm. The lift-and-slide is the only unit in the catalogue that reaches air permeability class 4: the sash drops onto the gasket and compresses it right around, which a running sliding sash cannot do.

What Uw does your window actually reach?

Enter the real opening, not a theoretical square metre. The calculation is EN ISO 10077-1 and we show the three terms separately: glass, frame and the thermal bridge at the edge of the glazing. It is almost always the third one that surprises.

Manufacturing

From a drawn section to a twelve-metre bar

A system is not released when the section looks right, but when the die holds tolerance, the bar survives the shear test and the rig gives it a class. About eighteen months separate the first from the last.

  1. 01

    System design

    The section is drawn with the hardware, the glass and the drainage already decided. Every variant is simulated thermally before a die is ordered, because a die costs what it costs and cannot be adjusted afterwards.

  2. 02

    Extrusion

    An 1,800-tonne press on seven-inch billet. The profile leaves at twelve metres, is stretched, artificially aged to T6 and cut to order length.

  3. 03

    Thermal break

    The bars are inserted and rolled in under pressure between the two shells. Every batch is tested for longitudinal and transverse shear: if the joint gives, the profile stops being structural.

    Finishing

    Powder coating under QUALICOAT and anodising under QUALANOD, both on site. Dual colour is solved by coating the two shells separately before rolling them together, not afterwards.

    Testing and support

    Every series is tested on our own rig with the assembly the fabricator actually builds, not a laboratory specimen. Sections come as DWG and as BIM objects, and we will run the Uw calculation for your schedule if it helps.

Applications

Where the Uw is actually won

Openings are 15 to 25 % of the envelope and account for more than half the losses. That is why they are the first thing touched when demand has to come down on a fixed budget.

New-build housing

85 and 100 mm series with triple glazing where the climate zone demands it. What usually decides is not the series but how many small openings the design has.

Energy retrofit

Replacement with the building occupied, almost always worked from outside. This is where a window goes from Uw 5.7 to 1.3 and the bill changes in the first winter.

Offices and commercial

Curtain walling with solar control. Here the g-value matters as much as the transmittance: there is surplus heat eleven months a year and the facade has to filter it without going dark.

Health and education

Robust hardware, simple cleaning, controlled ventilation. It gets opened and closed a hundred times a day for twenty years.

Hotels

Acoustics before everything else. An Rw of 40 dB at the opening is worth more than any interior refurbishment if the room faces the street.

Passive house and NZEB

Uw below 1.0 with a 100 mm frame, triple glazing and a warm edge. And with the installation detail resolved, because at that level the installation thermal bridge outweighs the frame itself.

  • Uf is simulated, not estimated

    Frame transmittance comes from a finite element model of the real section to EN ISO 10077-2. It is not deduced from the width of the polyamide bar, however obvious the correlation looks. From that Uf the configurator calculates the Uw of your opening to EN ISO 10077-1 and shows you the three terms so you can check them.

  • AEV classes come off the rig

    Air permeability, watertightness and wind resistance are tested to EN 1026, EN 1027 and EN 12211 on an opening assembled the way the fabricator assembles it. A class that exists only in a catalogue is not a class.

  • The system is not the window

    We supply profile, gaskets, hardware and a fabrication manual. The window is cut, assembled and installed by an approved fabricator. The tested classes only hold if the assembly follows the manual, and we say so plainly even when the site is in a hurry.

  • Traceable to the melt

    Every bar is marked with the profile reference and the extrusion batch. From there you reach the billet, the alloy analysis and the press log. Ten years on file.

604 openings with everyone still at home

Grupo Ariztia is 96 flats built in 1971 in Pamplona: aluminium windows with no thermal break, single glazing, Uw around 5.7. The residents approved an envelope retrofit on one non-negotiable condition — nobody moved out.

The work was done from outside on a suspended platform, opening by opening, with the units pre-assembled in the workshop and sealed the same day. Each flat had the work inside it for four to six hours. Series ORB P85-42 HI with double low-E and a warm edge spacer: the opening came out at Uw 1.3 and the building's heating demand fell 38 % in the first measured year.
